ok the deal was after i drove hard the idle would jump up to about 1400 or more and after long drives it would be the same... i dont have any vac leaks and nobody replied to my earlier questions but the other day i removed my dashpot and found the pin was hard to push in sometimes and sometimes not... anyhow i removed that part all together and replaced it with a bolt that i can adjust for a idle stop screw... now my car idles wonderful at 700-800 rpms no matter what i do or no matter how long i drive... i can only go to think the dashpot was not contracing all the way and causing my idle to be off... check yours if you have the same probs

the dashpot?...sorry for the noobie question...but what is this...i am having idle problems...just adjusted my tps...and that did not do it...it is a new to me engine that i have 400 miles on dont know if thats why...i think it has a total of like 70000on it..that was what iwas told
the dashpot helps when you let off the gas real fast. it stops the gas from snapping back to idle, its a device on the throttle body, there are two i believe... one in front one in back. i took mine off, i dont reccomend either way though. thanks for the info cwsttu
HEY
my car does this **** too! and its REALLY irritating.. sometimes 750RPM... sometimes 1500.. sometimes 2100... sometimes bounce. NO vacuum leaks.
And I never even THOUGHT of that damper thing till now. I'm going to chuck it tomorrow.
THANKS!
