Lighting problems... Eletrical!

my head light switch went bad but not totally... all my lights work except my interior and my head lights. But I ran a toggle switch to the relay that plugs in to the headlight relay. I can't remember which two of the four wires I used from the harness (it works fine , minus my interior lights) but is there a way I can use the same toggle switch to jump my dash lights as well... I've had this setup for a while anf I've not run into any problems with my head light fuse blowing. So I'm assuming my DIY fix is as basic as the original setup. But once again looking at the wiring diagram I was wondering what I'd have to do to get my toggle swtich to also operate my interior lights?

Thanks

Ty (who's getting good at guessing my speed and amount of gas left in the dark)

Bringing back an old thread - I also want to know how this was done. Did you have to add a second relay or just wire a toggle into the old headlight harness plug?

I will have a replacement switch shortly, but I may have to have my car on the road after dark tomorrow and I need lights one way or another.

... come on, everyone had this switch fail. No one jiggered something up while waiting for the replacement? I need it working tomorrow. Going to have a go at it with a multimeter tonight but some "been there done that" experience would help loads.

Talking had the same problem

had the same problem and still do infact but I rewird it so it works... cause I don'thave the money to buy a new switch and the two I bought off of ebay were worse than the one I had cause the taillights wouldn't work either...

I didn't the same thing for the head lights but I cut the red and green wire from the light switches wiring harness and sodered an extention wire so the I could splice the ground wire from the relay and extended red/green wire to each other. Now when I flip the switch it but my head lights and my interior lights come one. And I've had no problems with fuses blowing so it's been a good setup for me.

I hope this helps. I drove around for like 4 months without interior lights and then I just desided to fix it one day. Good Luck... any more questoins just PM me

same thing happened to my ford probe (go figure), anways ran a constant line from the battery into the cabin, and ran a wire back out to engine bay and spliced into the lights. I stripped the two ends in the cabin and hand twisted them together every night after work. Worked great, though supper dangerous. Heh, don't do this at home.
