To do it for free, pull the retractor fuse underhood and crank them open with the ***** under each side of the bumper.

On my car it has the manual headlight crank instructions on a sticker under the hood.
Otherwise search the forum for 'sleepy eye headlights'

Why the hell would you want to drive around in a car that looks broken! The RX-7 is a sweet shape, don't stuff it up with silly rice-racer mods! Just my opinion of course...

?

But there isn't a way of doing it, with out removing the fuse. I'm interested that you turn the light switch and they open just half way.

Yo,

You go for the "sleepy-eye" look on your GTUs you're outta the GTUs Registry!

Next you'll be asking how to put in an aftermarket sunroof!! *grin*

HAHAAHAAHAA ...NOW YOU MAKE ME LAUGH, Is just a question. Is just curiosity.

what happen Is that some tread that I read, they talk about that the light of our cars look outdated and in there I saw the sleepy-eye. After thinking for a will a came up with this dress up. the two round circle are representing the 2 light. Is nothing just a wild idea, but not for the GTUs, don't be worried.

its real easy and quick to make your headlights go up half way with the fuse.

1) pop hood
2) open driver side door
3) take cap off fuse box next to strut tower
4) flip lights up
5) place hand on retractor fuse
6) flip lights down and at your prefered height pull fuse.

note: having your headlights halfway up will make a ghetto ram air to your cone filter/airbox.

Bah, I can dorifto in my NA. It just has to be an off camber corner in the rain. *grin* The only bitterness I have is they didn't bring the Infini IV over, which guess what? DOESN'T HAVE A SUNROOF. Ha! So the hardest core FC was a hardtop, just like mine. Nyah nyah!

Hey, so the FC meet still on for Saturday Feb 2? How many folks gonna show? I still have to work, but I might try and get it off if you've gotten your big *** cardboard FMIC in.

Lemme know whaddup.

Please sit down for this.....

I am about to shock a few people here....

I like the idea of the "modernization" dress up you showed us!!!!

There is a way to do what your talking about by altering the electronics and/or the mechanics of the light mech.

If you can come up with a headlight cup and alighment kit, say from another car, then I would assist in the mod.

I have a car I haev been secretly "modernizing" and would be interested in inicorporating this look if it can be done "right"..

I.E.

How mazda would have done it if the car was released today.....

If you’re planning to do sleepy-eye ****, sod off now! If you’re thinking of replacing the headlights with lower profile dual units for a more modern look, keep reading.
The headlight mechanism works like a piston/crankshaft arrangement. When you turn the lights on, the motor turns 180º and crank pushes the headlight up. The motor is stopped in this position by a limit switch within the motor. When you turn them off the motor turns the remaining 180º in the same direction, dropping the light and is again stopped by a limit switch. Thus there is really no electrical solution.
But if you replace the crank with a custom shorter one, the crank’s throw (and hence the height the headlight pops up) is reduced. I don’t think this would be too difficult for someone with some engineering skills and access to the right equipment.
This way there’s no pissing around with fuses, switches and manual cranking. I’ve seen this done once here in NZ on a 1st Gen. The dude was a metal fabricator. Here’s what it looked like:

blue90rx7, you hit it right in the middle. That is what I had in mind. Shure looks fine.
NZConvertible, that first gen look ok with the conversion.

In general the car in the site that blue90rx7gide us to, looks good with the conversion. But I would like more the look of asimetrical light, like the one in the first gen.
