Light switch Buzzes..even after I try other switches!

I replaced the dash in my S4 N/A(88) and I go to hook up the lights and the Switch Buzzes and the lights are ON when the switch says it is off.It does not function when it is connected(quick check).Like no HI or LO difference.
I have had a switch smoke on me before so when this happened I disconnected right away.
I have tried numerous light switches from BOTH Series surrounds and it still persists.
Did I just overlook something on install.Dash is from my 86 and the wiring was fine.

What can this be, Rotary wiring Gurus??..

Thanks in advance,STYX.

Typically, a buzzing electronic switch would result from crossed polarity or misapplied voltage.
I'd suspect the subharness connecting the main harness to the cluster switches is either compromised or not correct for your series.

W/the switch disconnected does the W/G wire have constant voltage to it? Does the Black wire test out as a ground? Does the Red wire have constant voltage?

I'll have to check this out as I am still painting the other car too,so Sort of busy in that aspect.
I could try the Headlight harness from the 86 too on this 88 N/A and see if that is the culprit.
In the meantime thanks very much for the insight,it does not go unappreciated!.. (and look for my Build thread pics tonight .."Gonna bomb my car"..shameless plug :p !)
