The hatch and glass are extremely heavy and the weight is located in the worst place, at/near the top of the car. Not ideal for road racing etc.
Lighter is generally better.
100 lbs. shaved is good for about a .10 in th 1/4 mile if I remember correctly.
fc3s.org is working on the hatch frame I believe. I will definately be ordering one of those for my 20b car when the time comes.

I think that still uses the steel hatch frame.
The rear is not as likely to get messed up as the front.
Contrary to what many beleive, Lexan is pretty tough. You can use wipers on it as long as it stays fairly clean.

The stock hatch is prety light,.. its thin glass with a light steel frame,.. its like less than 50 pounds total, so i dont see how you could save 60 pounds with a lexan one,....
