Lets talk about the Corksport S4/5 intercooler kit...
Lets make one thing clear. I like corksport. The owners nice, they are a honest business as far as I have always known. I know one of the owners, and they are the only local shop I would refer work to right now.
But common! Is this Intercooler Kit a joke? I know its supposed to be a simple to install, complete kit, and well for the most part it is.
Lets talk about the good:
The core is solid, bar and fin.
The tubing is nice, clean welds, polished chrome finish.
It has actual T-clamps and hose couplers.
Now for the bad...
1) The install instructions suck. The pictures are a poor quality, hardly showing what really needs to be done. There are no instructions for Series 5, only Series 4. And I can not believe that they just tell you to butcher holes in the front headlight support and NOT paint the edges/use a rubber bumper. Wires go through here folks! Can you say vibration + wire + sharp metal edges?
2) The turbo outlet pipe is just poorly designed. I have had 5 TII's and they ALL have blown the coupler right out of the turbo. A simple continuation of the U bend + a real coupler could solve this.
3) The battery tray has to be a joke. Did a monkey put this together??? Pop riveted and WELDED? Mines bent in at least 3 directions and looks like they used a 30 grit grinding wheel to remove the rivets.... In the guide they arent even ground down!
And there is no province for a battery tie down! I dont think the tech would like a bungee cord wrapped around the tray...
4) The inter cooler core is massively over sized for a stock turbo. The pressure drop will be 1-2 pounds and thats just not acceptable.
Since this is a friends car, I am going to install this, modify it as it should be, and write proper install instructions for anyone who wants to put this in their FC.
Maybe then it will be worth the price... personally I would have just bought a used greddy kit...

In Atlanta? Hit me up.
Is there a mathimatical formula for how big your intercooler should be for how much boost you intent to run? I need somthing that will be ok with my stock turbo but plenty for when I upgrade to maybe 320 at the fly.
