Tranny question

So i just bought my girlfriend a 88 auto the tranny needs to be rebuilt. Looking at the rebuild kits online they say for 84 to 88 so my question is could i just drop a 84 or 85 tranny in the car. I have a few known good ones.....

Thanks

Weird, I didn't know the models up to 85 had the same tranny. Her car is the same as any 86-88. 85 and earlier is a completely different car. I'd do some research first, or simply hunt down an 86-88 tranny.

the FB transmissions are going to end up being shorter I believe. There was somebody on the forums here just recently who modified an FB transmission with FC transmission parts to make it work on his FC, I think it was just a matter of swapping tailhousing, and keeping the FB gearbox, don't quote me on that though. It was really recent so I am sure you can find that thread.

KEEP IN MIND: this was on a manual transmission, so take it with a grain of salt : )
