Thats what I'm trying to avoid. I don't want to go disecting it to trace it back to where it goes.

Kinda reminds me of the ICU on my old 928. Separate computer used to control the timing.

I have a feeling that it is the reason I'm not getting any spark.

I switched to a RB holley setup and wantto keep using the direct fire setup, I figured that since they (engine and ignition) were on separate harnesses that I would be able to do so. Obviously not the case.

Now I don't know if I am going to have to run a standalone just for the ignition or be better off using the distributor instead.

The ECU controls both fuel and ignition and they are not on separate harnesses.

Power steering ecu? Since when does power steering need a computer? it's just a simple ydraulic spool valve system. Oh well I guess it's getting yanked since I converted to a manual rack then.

It's connected to the sensor behind the wheel, and if I'm correct, is what tells the car to turn off the blinkers when you turn, among other things.

The power steering is also speed sensitive so it knows when to engage and such. is the unit s4 s5? you could probably make some cash monies from it

From looking at the wiring diagram it appears to have lts of other **** running through it as well. I'm starting to really hate this project. should've kept it stock and rebuilt the motor. (hangs head)

When it takes engine speed, road speed and steering wheel angle inputs and uses them to calculate the position of a stepper motor that controls a bypass valve that varies the level of steering assistance, so that assistance can be greatest at low speed and gradually reduce to zero at high speed. That's when.

it's just a simple ydraulic spool valve system.
Not even close...

Should have just left the stock EM harness in the car. When you removed that you removed the cas signal to the ECU plus the ECU output to the coils.

Power steering box has zip to do with your project. Leave it in or take it out. You'll still have ignition if the stock EM harness is installed to the front harness and the ECU.

Well thats just great. LOL Thanks for the insight. So basically if I re-install the ECU I should get spark?
