Not getting more than 8 PSI?

I have an RB downpipe and presilencer and the stock N/A exhaust from the Y pipe and an FCD. My wastegate is not ported, its an S4. Is it normal that I cant get more than 8 PSI? Can my new autometer gauge be faulty? I would think not...

I would guess that the restriction from the stock mufflers and Y pipe would cause the turbo to not put out more than 8 but I could be wrong....Am I?

If I'm not mistaken, isn't there something that prevents it from going higher than 8? Or perhaps the exhaust? I know I'm getting 7 on my stock turbo atm...but I don't know, otherwise.

well, the autometer gauges can be a bit off, i know mine reads about 1 psi higher than actual at all times. Are you looking for boost creep tho? port that wastegate!

I've seen spikes of up to 10 psi actual (11 on my POS gauge) and i let off there, and I have an open exhaust too. It would have kept going otherwise. NA RB catback, testpipe, midpipe and downpipe (no cats)

What kind of intake and turbo inlet duct are you running?

To me - that sounds very ball park for being sans boost controller.

If you want to run a little higher, stuff a boost controller on it and make sure that you have enough fuel...

For fuel, thats no problem. I have 720cc secondaries.

I have a K&N intake with the stock AFM.

I dont mind running 8 PSI, its just that I was told that I would hit 10-12 and I would creep because the wastegate is not ported....But that doesn't seem to be the case. Just wanna be sure I'm not hurting the engine.

No your fine to run like that.

I think the stock TID (plastic tubing between the turbo and AFM) might be holding you back a little.

But honestly, its right where it should be for those mods on an S4 turbo. To get any more you'll either need a straight-as-can-be inlet duct and intake - or a boost controller.

if you dont have a boost controller why would it boost hight than 8psi anyways?

A full exhaust can make it creep to 9 psi at the most in third gear.

U should replace the stock n/a cat back.

Besides the point. NO ONE on stock ECU should run higher than 8 to 9 psi. ( as the ecu is not tuned for those levels.

not true i have a full 3" exhaust and on my stock S4 i creep to 10 in all gears....and i couldn't get more than 8-10 on mine either and figured out that the flapper for the twin scroll was stuck shut.
