let the project begin

I have started on my project car, here and the details
87 na
street ported 6port motor
custom built intake manifold for holley carb.
stock turbo (for now)
Saab fmic
fiberglass hood

I know a couple of guys with this setup and it is good for about 300hp. The car will be a track/street car (real track with turns) I am a broke collage student so the big turbo won't come until next summer when I have more time to work. Is any one in here running a turbo-carb setup?

Where are you getting the fiberglass hood?

Were you thinking of changing out the hatch glass with something else?

I got the hood from a parts car, the parts car was an automatic, do they come with this hood? It looks just like the stockk hood no scoops, and has a mazda sticker on it. the car also had a factory glass sun roof wich was already sold on ebay. I know you can turbo a na motor but can't go over 8psi, but with the higher compresion that would be a much stronger 8psi than in a turboII, down the road I will put lower compresion roters in the motor. btw one of my friends has the same setup except he has the atkins supercharger in a Porsche 911!!!! The carb will make more power than the 86-88 efi any way because that design really restricts the motor's hp to get it to pass emsions, same with the exhust.

I would like to replace the hatch with lexan, and revove some metal from the doors, basicly take as much weight out as I can just as long as it is still streetable.

You can go way more than 8 psi on a high compression engine. It is not such a big deal. You should see how many drag cars here in Puerto Rico have High compression turbo engines, and most of them run in the 9's
