let me know what you think happened...

I have a 1986 rx7...I put on an intake and my car overheated...let me know what you think could be the problem

Also I was told that if I take off the belt that runs my smog pump than it wont do anything to my car other than give it more horse and better gas milege..Is this true???

About overheating I am not sure you gave us enough info. Removine the belt to the air pump will cause your cats to clog and your car to loose power because of it. You need to have no cats to do that.

If you have removed your airpump belt, and are still running cats, it is possible that you melted your cats, which now arent letting much exhaust through and is causing your overheating problem. Just putting an intake on your car will not make it overheat. Your airpump feeds cool air to your cats to prevent them from overheating, and helping in emissions....

also, if you remove the air pump and don't get a dual alt. pulley, then the belt to the water pump is likely to slip at higher RPM, causing your car to overheat.

I have no dual pully and I only over heat when I am running constant high RPMs like for over 5 min. at 6500 or something like that but normal driving will not get affected normaly.
