MA left turn signal doesnt work

1991 convertible:
the left turn signal lights don't work but the right ones do. The additional data that I have is:
1. it used to only be a problem during a heavy rainstorm or shortly after. Once it seemed like she "dried out" the the problem would go away
2. The CickClickClick of the capacitor still happens, but of course at a much higher frequency.
3. I dont think the indicator light goes off in the dash
4. Only the right side signals flash when I put the hazards on.

I've been pouring over the wiring diagram, and what I can come up with is that there must be a short between the hazard flasher unit in the cpu and the lights. Mind you, I havent checked the bulbs yet, but if a bulb were to burn out, one of the lights would still blink, or at the very least, the indicator would still be flashing.

Can someone confirm with me what I'm saying is true? Or what am I missing?

thanks

I'd check your wires and bulbs in the back to be sure , they're very easy to access.

just a month ago, i had this same issue. i solved my issue by replacing the relay in the black cpu box (right next to the kick panel fuses on the driver's side). the relays are interchangeable with the s4 and s5 models.

here's my thread if you wanna gather info: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...-does-1008753/

Jlee, So The first thing I see is that my Vert has the airbag, and seems to be twice as complicated because of it. I'm having trouble just finding which way the circuits are traveling. Yeesh.

And the relay that you replaced was the "hazard light flasher unit?"

Learning what a "relay" is, is something i learned today, show's you how much experience I have.

Your CPU has a plug w/seven wires. When the turn signal lever is placed in the left hand position, the Red/White wire should have battery voltage w/key to on. And this voltage should pass on to the Green/Black wire in the same plug.

correct, it's inside the black box that reads "hazard light flasher unit." like satch said, it should have about 7 wires connecting to it. while the black box is mounted, the relay for blinkers are at the bottom of the black box.
