led tail conversion for fc
havent found them online for the 2nd gen, but i admit, i havent searched very hard after seeing clearcorners pricing for 240sx's
they dont have them for the fc's yet (at clearcorners), but im thinking about converting tails into LED tails
i can either make them just like stock, or convert s4's to s5's or do a unique style if im provided enough info by the buying (stocks would be the cheapest, as customs would cost more to mold new plastic in the desired pattern (shape would stay the same though))
they will plug into the stock plugs and your core would be required. however for a custom job, id assume that any undamaged s4s from the junkyard would easily qualify.
assuming that the quality is professional, who would buy them?
(im thinking ~250 to 350 depending on full cost of materials and whether or not i can buy in bulk)
(poll is being taken to determine whether i should go into this or not)

I think that the only way the would work well for the S5 cars is to remove the entire bulb carrier assembly and replace that with an array of LED's.
You know like you see on commercial trucks, about 4-5 inches in diameter. Problem with that is you would have to cut expensive and hard to replace light assemblies, and once done there would be no going back!
Just a thought!

please no OEM purist flames =P
just look, they arent "rice" they are actually quite nice
these are for the 240sx, but as you can see, dual round circles... sound like any tails on any rx7 ever? =P

if people wanted this sort of thing, i can do it, and honestly, yes, you can convert back, it just takes a soldering iron and the orig equip (which i would ship back with the new lights)

I know there are a few places who make bulb replacements that use an array of a dozen or so led's stuck on a standardized sided bulb connector at varrying angles, but I have heard the cheapy ones don't work so well. There are more expensive ones but I don't know anyone who's tried them.

nevermind, I just answered my own question by looking a little harder.
yeah I think it's a killer idea, but I won't be buying any. it's not that I think they're overpriced ($200-300+ is reasonable) I just can't afford it. maybe in a few years.

hmm... maybe ill look into it then. im on vacation from work.
i can make a crude circuit board
its the lexan to seal it that im worried about. dont know anybody offhand that works with it, but i do know a place that makes plane parts, including canopies (sp)
and those are lexan.
(dont worry, the lights wouldnt be completely lexan, in fact only the leds would be covered w/ it so that water would never be able to hit it.)
hell i could just make that... and sell it to just mount in your stock tail lense covers and greatly reduce the price... like down to 100/ pair
so maybe...

Someone did an led swap on there fd, and I thought it was relatively inexpensive. there was group buy for it or something.
Ever since I bought this FC I have been thinking it need's LEDs for it lights, since my voltage with the brakes ,headlights, and fan on max drops to 10v. if I am signaling a turn it dips with each blink.
