Leaking fuel near Pulsation Dampener

Well, I was looking in my engine bay trying to figure out my bad idle, looking for vacuum leaks etc. I smelled gas. I thought maybe it was the exhaust leak at the downpipe i have. But, when I looked at the PD just underneath there was fuel leaking. I put my finger on the little "nipple" of the PD and didn't feel any pulsing. It does look like the fuel is coming from the fuel hose. Would a leak in the fuel system in that area make it so I don't feel any pulses?

Well, I am going to be pulling the upper intake off and replacing the hose.

Thanks guys. Glad my car didn't catch on fire.

Replace the PD at the same time or you may be tearing the manifolds off again right away.

I had a similar situation to an RX-7 I bought. I took the upper intake off and somebody forgot to put the clamp back on the fuel line. Mine was also missing the plastic spacer. I am surprised it ran like that. Anyway all of that is replaced now. A good thing somebody put a rebuilt engine in this car.

Replace the o-rings on your primary injectors while your at it. I thought my PD was leaking and it turned out to be a bad seal at the fuel rail and injector. a few dollars worth of o-rings and its leakfree.

replace the PD and get new gaskets and hoses/clamps. its recommended by Mazda to replace it at least every 100,000 or so miles.

Replace:
1. PD with either a new PD (preferable) or banjo bolt (much cheaper)
2. Fuel lines if you haven't lately
3. Injector o-rings
4. Vacuum hoses

Check/Replace if necessary (depending on wear/mileage):
1. Manifold gaskets
2. OMP lines
3. Primary injector plastic spacer

Putting S5 intake on my car, so I will be replacing all my intake gaskets.

All new fuel line.

Banjo bolt ftw. . I am an FC owner... I can't afford a new PD every year....
