leaking/flooding 13b

well i just put my trans in got everything ready went to get it inspected today, and it passed as i was leaving the car died on me, it was low on oil and it had ended up flooding after an hour and a half of monkeying with it with the mechanic it finally started puffing black smoke, which stopped so i left and headed for work, but on the way i guess it was pouring oil out cause it stopped again on the side of the road not to far away, so i walked 3 miles back to my home went back with my gfs car and put oil in it so i could drive it back to the shop, it wouldnt start, so i went to work and came back later took the plugs out clenaed them out i turned the engine over a few times to clear the gas, unplugged a harness under the air box turned it over a few times then replugged the harness and tried again, theres nothing just flooding again,im just curious if there was a connection between the flooding and the leaking oil? i know that it had a low oil pressure cut off, and hopefully i just flooded it when i started it i was so excited to be able to finally drive it after staring at for more than a month in my driveway. but if anyone has any input it would be greatly aprecitated thanks again

How could this car have passed inspection leaking oil like that?

It may just be flooded. First, unplugging the AFM won't help. You need to pull the EGI fuse. Pull the EGI and crank with the throttle at WOT to blow out the fuel. Put a few ounces of oil into each chamber and then manually turn the engne over a few times. Do this several times. Then put the plugs back in and try to start the car.

Uhhhhhhh cylinders?

And get some regular old stock spark plugs, if im not mistaken those are the racing ones that are not meant for a stock car and will foul fairly quickly unless youre redlining everywhere.

im not sure what they call them this is my first rotary, im a newb to this stuff where the plugs sit, i took the two leading out and cleared the gas, but it did it again someone said something about a fuel cut off switch? could i just pull the fuse for the injector? would this have the same effect?

The fuel cutoff switch is a more convenient bandaid then pulling the EGI fuse. But neither one is a fix. Some other condition is causing the car to flood. It's either a poor tune, leaking injectors, or low compression.

yea i just reaplced the coils plugs and wires when i bought after i did the clutch, and the guy that sold it to me told me he had it tested but im going to have them test it at the garage again, ive heard of an h pipe? instead of shelling out some serious cash for injectors? is this just a quick fix too? or will it work alright?

i took it to the mechanics today and they told me i need a new engine that it wont start becasue of of low 30 psi compression on one rotor and thats why its not starting, he said if it were a v8 it woudld still fire on 7 culinders but becaise its a 4 cylinder it wouldnt. does that make sense? thanks again for all the help

Yes sir, flooding is commonly caused by low compression. It is a two rotor, not a four cylinder btw.

Flooding can cause low compression. Make sure that it's not horribly flooded during a compression test.

first of all where is the oil leak from? having no oil a rotary is like death!! and secondly take car to a mazda dealership to have it compresson tested, if your mechanic is sitting there telling you its a 4cyl then he doesnt know what he is talking about and compression testing on rotary takes a mazda specific compression tester to get the most accurate reading... and what ever Aaron Cake says is what you should do as well he knows his stuff, good luck

actually the oil was leakling at the filter tower, ive been doing research on thesecars since i bought them, i went back there to try it with the new plugs the guy had already put them in and told me no go, so i took off the plugs the again cleared the rotors, put some oil in the bottom two plug holes the leading? casue that seems to be the rotor with low compression well i got started it was puffing black for a while then the oil light came back on it was pretty much through the gas and and flooding so i turned it off, went to start it again same thing flooded,. i cant afford to take it to a dealership the closest is 45 minutes away, and i have no money at all im living paycheck to paycaheck with this thing my fiance is ready to put a bullet in it and me the one consolation is the guy i bought it from is a mazda tech and he told me it was tested.
