Leading and trailing coils on the same timing mark?

I went to check my timing and the T1 wire and the L1 wire are firing at the same spot.

Then on top of that they are wrong! I turned the CAS all the way to retard as I can get it and it's still about a needles width advanced.

Any thoughts?

thanks

Most of these cases are a result of the IDLE being over approx 1100 rpm. The idle needs to be way under that figure and the engine needs to be fully warmed up.

Yeah my idle sits when warm around 1000-1200.

I don't know how to get it down!
My BAC is removed along with the other emissions.
I'm going to try and adjust the set screw for the throttle plates and try to drop it down.

With the BAC gone what idle RPM should I aim for?

the engine hood does a few good things
it covers your engine from rain, sap, snow, and most environmental hazards
it helps with your aerodynamics, and make your car look good
it even helps you avoid getting a ticket because it is illegal to drive without a hood
but most of all, they have stickers that tell you vital car information, such as the 750 that it says for idle.

Any speed well below 1000 rpm. The BAC was meant for IDLE control, nothing to do with emissions.

I say well below 1000 rpm because I've one car that the tach is off about 250 on the high side.

The cars came with a decal/sticker attached to the underside of the hood showing emissions routing and other vital information. Just FYI

I had to read that 5 times to get the point!
THANKS.........

I know what the idle is supposed to be. I also know that sometimes without the BAC the idle can't support some draws on the motor. (rear defrost, heater motor,......)

Normal timing at idle is -5 Lead and -20 Trail.

The ECU advances the timing anytime your over 1100rpm plus some. In the attached jpg there is a picture I just took with the rpms over 1100 rpm.

Prior to 1100 rpm it was what it is supposed to be....-5 Lead and -20 Trail.

So you can now see why the rpms must be below the one grand figure.

Got it!

Also it looks like the L and T coils DO fire at the same time above 1100RPM.
