Lambo doors....yay or nay?

Hell no! I would never do that to any rotary or much less any car. That money could be put to use on other things to make the car look different and function. I have seen a few lambo door kits and neither of them work or fit 100%. Waste of money and a waste of a rx7!

This has actually been done, I saw a pic or two somewhere here on the forums. I didn't think it was done very well either...
I plan to do this conversion on one of my 2 coupes... ya know... after the vert is completely done and one of the coupes is a 12 sec car... and this is of course if I don't buy a delorean first...

those gull wings look cheesy, no offense to the guys who did it...
i would much rather like to see the roof lines kept in tact, it would look much cleaner that way but also much more difficult to accomplish and look good.

I wouldn't mind them if they actually functioned scissor style properly. That would require MAJOR work to accomplish though.
And 250 lbs, you're dreaming.
Maybe 50-75 lbs, and even that I would expect is on the high side. Jesus, a bare FC shell is only a few hundred pounds.

I dont agree with that ****... I think lambo doors and a nice body kit are a good way to set your car apart from others. Everybody is talkin about rice this and rice that... Oh go and get hp... well damn, all it takes is about 3k and you'll have a good hp rx7 and about 2-3k more and you'll have a good looking rx7. (Obviously if you do all your own work, both ways) If you have the money, I say go for both goals of speed and looks. Otherwise, pick one goal and focus on it...
Second, alot of people say, dont add a body kit to your car or dont do this or dont do that. I think that there is too much goddamn negativity floating around here. Lighten up a bit peeps.
Luv you all---Matt

I don't think it looks too bad....
Toss some black Regamasters on there instead of those chromies and get rid of the spoiler and it's not that rice at all.
I think done up right, it could look really cool!

In all the cars I have dealt with that included aftermarket Lambo-doors, I have decided that they are a HUGE PAIN IN THE REAR. It depends a lot on the quality of the kit, but every one I have experience with have the following flaws:
-doors are heavy to lift up
-doors sway like hell in the wind
-body damage due to improper installation and failure to take into account how the new hinge moves
-severly reduces door space...makes it hard to get in and out of car
-pain in low slung parking garages
There are some kits that still allow the door to move normally. These are pretty cool.
My choice would be gallwings though.

250Lbs extra weight is just an absurd exageration... Even 100lbs may be pushing it.
I don't think there will be many problems with "low slung garages." Unless for some stupid reason decide to leave the doors up as you drive into(under the clearance marker) and around the garage... The doors will be about as tall as you are when opened. And if your in a garage that doesn't have enough clearance for people... well then there is a problem other than the lambo doors.
http://www.aerokits.net/DiabloHinge/gtf.htm <-- there is a video demonstratiion on this site, look at the door hight compared to the person. Yeah I know the FC doors are pretty long but can there be THAT much height difference?
Some of the lambo kits do look like they might be a bit of a squeeze to get out of the car. GT-Factory makes door kits with jmore clearance.
On some cars they look good but on some its just terrible... Just look at some of the cars that people put these doors on.. I mean really, who the **** wants lambo doors on a ugly *** H2 Hummer?!
Do what you want man. Its your car. Everyone else on here has their own biased opinions. I personally think on a vert with the right paint and body kit it may look tight. Go for it and take pics!
ok , lol let me set the record straight here, as for weight they dont add nothing to the weight of the car. maybe 5 lbs max. i know i have them on my car. but if your putting them on a vert you do have some body work on the inside of the fender to work on, like refabing the fender to get the hinge on a flat surface. that was my big prob , other than that they look bad ***. i get compliments where ever i go in my carso the coice is up to you, if you like the look go for it, good luck. if i can help in anyway let me know.
Lambo doors rock!!!..................on a lambo. that look just doesn't fit the car, and someone mentioned rx-7s wight 2800 and even more for the s5 and verts, my s4 wighs under 2500 stock when i got it and is damn near 2400 now. Light is good but to light can make for and unstable car at high speeds, i think its a very good wight for a rwd car, besides the people putting lambo doors on thier car probably aren't worried about a few pounds
the red FC looks decent but i'd still like to see if anyone managed to do it without chopping the roof line and i also wonder how well those roof chopped versions seal in the weather and also how stable they are with flex and rattling.
