KYB AGX and RB Springs on a DD?
KYB AGX and RB Springs on a DD?
Would it be ok to run KYB AGX's and RB springs on my DD? If i keep them adjusted to a pretty soft setting do you guys think itll be too stiff to be comfortable...(i dont expect luxury soft) just a decent ride...
Anyone running them now? How do you like them?

Are the RB springs progressive rate? If so, then it would prob be fine. I have AGX's with Eibach springs (non-progresive). I drive it with the stiffness all the way up an dits not too horrible. Its very stiff, but still drivable.

The RB's are not progressive, they are single rate. If you set the shocks too soft (that may not be possible with the AGX) the ride will be bouncy, kinda like all those riced-out Hondas.
If you set them too hard (this IS possible with AGX) the ride will go from very firm to hard and jarring, depending on how much too hard you set it.
If you set them just right, the ride will be firm and very well controlled. Only then can you know if you will like the ride.
My oldest son has had every combination of spring and shock you can imagine on various Acuras and Hondas over the last 6 years. His taste is much firmer than I could tolerate. Even he will admit that he has beat several cars to death with shock/spring combos. You can turn the nicest tightest car into a rattle-trap. His latest car has Eibach progressives and AGX's set a little to the firm side. I like the ride very much.
I have Eibach and tokiko blues on my 90 vert. I could use a little firmer shock valving, but the car is still much better drive than with the original springs and shocks.

I have the KYB's and RB springs.. the ride is great for a daily driver. I dont know the spring rate off the top of my head, but its VERY livable. Only makes the car chatter on rail road crossings (and if you go w/ a little speed, its fine). I used to have eibach sportline (racing series on my last car) and they were very stiff. A little too much for a daily driver.
agx and rb seem like a very popular combo ... but thats alot of red haha the eibach/agx combo seem like it would work better. Is there any really prefomance difference between the 2 spring sets?
yea i know im very picky haha

Eibach's are progressive rate. So sometimes they might get stiff when you don't want them too or vice versa. I was recommended against them if I was going to try and do anything past driving on the street.
Racing Beat are linear, so its always in a racey mode. But I do know that RB takes into consideration how it rides on the street. So it'll be a harsher ride but more "race" ready.
So its more of what you'd like and what you use it for. And Im just going off what I was told by talking to someone who has dealt with, raced, and built many RX's (he's on the forum, maybe he'lll chime in)

well my 7 will be a street car for my DD but also my weekend track car...taking it autocrossing, and drifting in the spring....so it needs to be pretty stiff, but driveable in the real world....

I have KYB AGX and RB Springs, I love it and daily drive my Turbo II with it. Of course if I go into San Francisco with all the crappy pot holes then its not so fun. It is firm, I don't think its over the top.
I plan on doing the same setup for my FD or something similar.. same springs different shocks if KYB AGX's don't exist for the FD. I haven't looked into that too much yet. So many other places the money is going right now, haha.
As everyone said its not a progressive rate spring and I much prefer it that way myself. Its more predictable, I have tried progressive rate springs and didn't like it so much. Might just be a personal thing.

matt,
I have the kyb-agx's and RB vert springs and they are a HUGE improvement over stock worn out set up but if I were to do it again I would just get the kyb agx's and the ground control coil overs. Now I have to take mine off and spend money twice. So for 200 more dollars you can adjust you ride height and run several different spring rates that do not fit the standard 2nd gen perch. In my opinion GC is kick ***

hmmm
Ya ground control stuff is pretty cheap. I wouldn't trust them.
I have KYB AGX (stiffest setting) and RB springs. I have also replaced all my bushings with poly ones. It is a ton stiffer, but it love those corners....

I've spoke to a few autocrossers and track nuts about them and they claim they suck for the money OR they are just cheap.

Well, there might be better ones for the money, but they were on the car when I bought it. The p/o tracked it all the time and I've done a few autocrosses with no problems. This is the only fc I've driven, so there is no basis for comparison, but I like it quite a bit.
