Kouki to Zenki Rotors a Better 88 RX7 N/A Manual Route?
I have read the searches, but I would like to try a different angle in this project.
I have a 88 RX7 Vert N/A manual tranny with one rotor dead.
I can get a matched OEM set of rotors but for 89. I have read that this will work I just have to match the flywheel counterweights of the same 89 year.
I am not certain if I can get the 88 OEM rotors.
So, I could get an OEM RX7 motor - I actually found one. Close to $6K.
I could rebuild using just the new 89 OEM rotors or just replace the damaged seals, etc.
Can the 88 housings be used with the 89 rotors? I think so, but would like correction if wrong. Any major issues with this route?
Also, I know that there is differences in the Zenki and Kouki rotors, but normally just an issue with using the series IV in a series V and normally just an issue if they are turbo. I do not plant to go turbo, but wonder if the Series V to Series IV would be a better setup than just using the same year rotors?
I would like to decide in the next three days, so please add input and corrections and any other ideas that will get me zooming again.
Thanks,
C-CK
