i have a knocking sound in first gear and no other ones...what could be the problem and how could i fix it

 

Knock as in pinging in the combustion chamber? Or knocking as in some sort of clunk noise from the transmission?

If it's a tranny noise, I'd say you probably have damage to your first gear. Go have a mechanic listen to the noise, and see if he agrees.

 

yea like something came loose but its only in 1st gear and now its sounds like something is hitting the ground or dragging but i looked and its not

 

I have a similar problem. In first gear my car makes a weird putting noise like it's about to stall and the whole car shakes with some crazy noise. After i get moving however the sounds stop.

 

highly unlikely it is detonating. It's pretty hard to detonate in 1st, as the motor isn't under much load.
