I think the Stereo is aftermarket and it must be a issue with the seat. I'm 5'8" 31" inseam as well. I have a vert and a 330mm wheel and boss hub, it get very hard to see around the wheel and eliminating power steering make it hard to turn under 15 mph. So all I can say is check your car and go through it.

Doesn't the tilt wheel allow you to move the wheel down more not up? I had my car side by side with a friends. I have a tilt wheel he does not and with my wheel as high as it goes they looked exactly the same.

If you are talking to me, I am not the one with the issue. I was just complaining.

I am 5'10 155 lbs. I drove tonight and I am fine if I straddle the wheel. I have had problems with my achilles tendons for the past few years so I am more sensitive to seating position than anyone else, if I have to over reach the pedals its a problem. Plus I am used to driving big American automatic cars. I have had more than my share of old camaros, novas, charger, t birds, etc and a bunch were 4 speed cars but those were also cars you sat really upright in and had a TON of vertical room.

Thanks for the input, I do appreciate it.

I recently put the stock seats back in my car after years of using racing seats full time, and noticed that there are spacers between the front of the seat and the sliders. You could probably take the spacers out and gain a little room. Not much but it might be enough.

I have heard of removing teh foam on the Seat part of the Bucket.that allows you to sit a little closer to the Ground.
You can always bolt some sliders Closer to the Floor of the car.Or mount the seat Permanently to the Floor and take the sliders out all together.this would involve some fabrication though.
I put a set of Bride Sliders on my aftermarket Seats..they did not just Bolt on,they actually made the seat HIGHER than normal, and hit the roof of the car.I had to modify them to allow the seat to tilt forward.

You are sitting too close to the pedals. You are probably trying to push the clutch in with the middle of your foot or even the heel. You should be pushin in the clutch with the ball of your foot; if you are short-legged, you can even move higher up to use mostly toe.

Your body type is not weird, your car is probably not weird, your seat position is simply too close. You are comfortable sitting too close to the wheel due to your big over-size American car experiences.

Slide back!

Good Luck!

A smaller diameter wheel may eliminate the leg interference issue while introducing others, namely poor gauge cluster sightlines and increased steering effort (especially with manual steering and/or wider tires).

I too have seen spacers between the seat rails and the seat base (first mentioned by Gene)- not often but at least twice on junkyard cars- and don't know if they were factory or added by a PO but it's worth checking.

If they are not present, it might be interesting to add some on the rear of the seat.
This might serve to straighten the angle at which your leg rests and solve the problem...maybe.

I dunno, your issue is weird...usually it's headroom that people- myself included- are concerned with, not seat/steering wheel interference.
When my niece drove the RX she had the seat all the way forward and didn't have any trouble with legroom but hey, everyone's different so that doesn't mean much.

I'm short, 5' 8" and my legs are short for my height, so I sit close but since my legs are short the knees are between the wheel and the pedals, not under the wheel.

Remember to adjust your seat back correctly. When it is at the right distance if you put your arm straight and rest it on the top of the wheel the wrist should bend over it.

you might just need to get used to it, your going from a car that you sit up inside of it versus a car that you literally have the seat bolted to the floor.

its a sports car, its supposed to be tight

lol never heard of someone being too short to drive an FC. I love all the leg room. Seat in my car is all the way back and I'm about 6'2." Steering wheel has never been an issue for me. Sounds like you got some good suggestions here though.

I'm 6'0 but have some pretty long legs. My car never had the stocker wheel so I don't know how it is, but I went from a ebay deep dish to a grant with a Ebay spacer and never had any issues hitting or seeing over the wheel. And I feel like the wheel is too close, theirs still plenty of room to push it back before its on my legs.

This is the spacer. Nothing special. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STEER...Q5fAccessories

You can get them in 5 bolt for grants, 6 bolt for ebay wheels, or whatever you want.

Like rob said, its a sports car. It's not meant to be all roomy for the family to ride around in.

If you feel your sitting too tall, take the rails off the bottom of the seat and have a muffler shop cut some custom ones that'll have you sit lower.

well your right there. i don't really see the rpm range after 3.5 to 5 but i can tell where it is now that ive learned to deal with it.

i can see the other important guages and the speedometer is blocked at around 65 so it helps me not speed which is a big plus. tickets suck regardless of what they are for.
