kit and paint or stand alone...

alright i have money saved up and need to decide what to get first. My car looks like poo, and needs paint... but before i paint im gonna buy a kit.

Im ready to have some real power out of this hybrid... right now i have it tuned so safe it makes me sick. I think the smart way to do this is with a stand alone, all the bandaids are fine for a while.. but now that im getting serious about making some real numbers its time to go ems.

I plan to get both, but im torn on what to get first. Im leaning towards paint and kit first so people will think more of my car. The primer spots and dents make for some fun races against people... but i want it to look good.

below is from another post i made... its a look into my mods and planned mods.

"...I was happy with it for a while. But i want more. It did 247rwhp at 11psi. Tho i have been told that my 2.5" catback is holding it back. I ran a 13.7 with wheel spin like crazy and a 2.2 60 foot. I got some videos of the wheel spin.... it was getting out of hand. I got a video of me launching and spinning at half throttle... when the thing cought traction for a good second i floored it in first and it broke loose again. ill try to dig it up.

now:
3"tid and cone, 3" dp, 2.5" catback has 2 resonators, 680cc secondaries, safc, fcd, stock IC, timing turned back 5* at the CAS, 10.5 - 11.0 AFR tune. 11psi = 247rwhp

Well i called a turbo shop and asked about getting a .60 to4 housing put on it and they told me $40 installed. He said he had some laying around.

parts in my room waiting to install and on the way:

.60 to4 front housing, 3" catback, rtek 1.5 ecu chip (or ems and 1600s), 4x720s, custom fmic (starion), hks filter adaptor to replace the tiny ebay one. Should free up some hp... im hoping to see ~275 at 11psi and ~325 at 15psi.

I drive my car daily and have had no problems with my current setup so far. So if your looking for a little more power with out haveing to go stand alone and fmic then the stage 1 is about as good as it gets.

My goal is 300+whp daily driver and run at least a 12.999999999 with slicks if need be."

get a standalone and at wideband tuner. You don't want to have a badass body kit and paintjob with a blown motor. Plus when your car is in need of a paint job and you get to work over some brand new 50k plus sports cars its the best feeling ever.

Standalone, and then when it comes time that you've saved for the paint job and body kit, skip the body kit and do something else again. Paint job is still okay though

Why make more power if you can't hook?

I'd take this new found money and buy some tires and some suspension parts if you still have your stock suspension (at least, some shocks and make sure your bushings aren't shot).

Besides, with an FC2000 kit being, well, somewhere in the 1k-2k range and a GOOD paint job being 2-5k, I don't see how it's one or the other. If you have 2k to spend, get a standalone, gauges, tires, and suspension. IMO.

im planning on spending a grand on the kit. and ~300 on the paint.. then my buddy will spray it for free. that is if he ever gets done putting the wide body on his supra...

www.raceonusa.com has the gp replica one for $750 plus shipping. ****Link below****

http://www.raceonusa.com/index.asp?P...ROD&ProdID=748

then www.rotaryextreme.com has the fc2000 replica front for $750 plus shipping... add $350 more for the bomex sides and rear. The cost is a few hundred more but headlight convertions cost $800+ and the fc2000 has one built in. ****link below****

http://www.rotaryextreme.com/fc2000.html

Now if i get the fc2000 kit i want to cut out the sides like i saw on www.rx7cz.net. ****link below****

And to the people that say get paint without a kit.... the price to do the body work of fixing the dents in my car would cost more then the kit. I also like the way those cars look in the pics I posted above. To each his own. I want people to go

Another good point. This stuff is on the list. Some of it sitting in my room waiting for me to have some time off to install. I have money problems right now.... the problem is i work too much to spend any of it.

just realize it will take some serious body molding to even get the race on kit to fit right. It might cost 750 in molding.

says who? Id like to know more. There is someone on the fc3s forum saying he got it and likes it alot. It looks great. i need to find the thread again.

i mean i have helped put kits on a integra, s2000, is300, and 2 civics.. and none of the kits fit right out of the box. I was under the impression that all kits were this way. My buddy got the duluck kit for his wrx and paid like a few grand for it... and even it took some adjustmemnts for it to fit right.

How did the fc2000 kit fit?
