keeping engine cool

Hey, I searched the forum already searching for a similar post but didnt find anything so I decided to post my own thread. I am just getting an 87 FC and i want to keep the engine from blowing so I wanted to know what kind of temp. gauge I should get. Also I heard from someone that to clean the engine you can filter water through the cold air intake. Is this true or is he crazy. Cause in every car I can think if your suppose to keep water out of your intake. Some help would be apperciated.

Never heard of that before. The best thing you can do is when you get your car just make sure you do all the regular maintanance stuff.

sparkplugs
sparkplug wires
oil change / oil filter
flush radiator (maybe if you want you can get your radiator serviced)
fuel filter
etc...

Just make sure everything that is stock is working and you will be fine.

You can suck water into your engine to reduce the carbon buildup, but not through a cold air intake. There's some vacuum hoses that will work. www.rotaryresurrection.com has a writeup on it.
