im having my engine rebuilt, still not too sure if i want to keep the 5/6 port sleeves and actuators or if i should get them all removed ?
Ive heard lots of different opinons on this, seems like the opinions are about 50/50 on to keep them or remove them. I want the best performance in my car , plan on doing some street racing with it too, so i want the best performance at all rpms for my car , according to a dyno chart i saw, u lose about 10 hp in the low rpm's but gain 10hp at high rpms. I'd love to hear everyones story if theyve done this mod and the difference it makes. Still not sure what i wanna do yet.
ive heard some bad stuff about the pineapple sleeves coming out and ruining engines so i really dont want to get those.....

i was just reading and see that alot of ppl have had problems with these staying in there securely , i want the best performance and reliability i can get ... having these will have me worried my engine will fail... (the pineapple sleeves)

it explains how to secure the inserts so that they cannot come loose. Without making the dimple on the edge, they might come loose.

i still really dont know about these sleeves, ive seen a number of people that had them kill their engine...and im putting about 2000 dollars into my engine getting it rebuilt, i dont want to lose my engine from a 50 dollar part falling into the combustion chamber. sure they can be securely put in, but how long will they stay secure is the question
Because you are rebuilding your motor you should have no problem with 5/6th ports (I am assuming acctuators are good and sleeves and ports are cleaned). If I were you I leave sleeves there first then wire them open to check if I feel loosing low end or getting high end (maybe not). If I like it, I'll remove them.

do u have to have the engine entirely apart to do this ? or can u remove all the sleeves and actuators/rods by just taking off the lim ?
another thing that worries me is my emissions, ill have to pass emissions after i get this rebuild and will this mod affect it dramatically or at all ??
