K&N Air filter type
Does it matter what kind of cone filter I strap on my car. Before I did the TII swap I just had a K&N cone filter strapped on to the AFM that I had got from a freind. The filter originally was for a Tauras SHO. Worked fine on my N/A engine. Will it be ok on my TII engine.

i thought on 86 to 88 models a cone filter that was oiled or takes oil would cause the AFM
to not read correct because of the sensor in front of the flapper. it would get gummed up.
Could be wrong though.

If you are using an oiled filter, and oil is pulling off and going into the intake you are using way too much oil. you don't have to soak the damn filter, just moisten it. For best results use the K&N recharge kits that come with spray bottles. You get better control of how much oil you put on.

IMHO, a cone is still better than stock. i did some experiments on the intake temps using a thermocouple. the stock intake is actually as hot or hotter than just a cone filter by my measurements.

of course, the best is a fenderwell intake and i'm skeptical of how good cold air boxes are, especially if they draw from the stock snorkel.

I want to run a pipe into the front air dam so that the filter catches fresh cold air, what do you think. I seen another guy do it and he said it drops the temps dramatically.
