JW Performance 4-barrel intake manifold quality

I just picked up a JW Performance 97001 intake manifold (6 port) and I'm a little disappointed in what the pictures online didn't show. The secondary ports (outer) are siamesed into one large port so the division happens right at the iron, flat face, no nice transition unless I buzz the iron. Ok fine, that's just the design. The other issue seems to be a core shift in the secondary runners. All the faces are machined nice and flat and they buzzed the perimeter of the carb and engine side of the runners. The secondaries (outer runners) seem to have about a 6-8mm mismatch at the engine flange side. This leaves a step (recess) at the bottom and big nasty ball nose rough cut at the top of the runner at the inside radius. The inside radius has plenty of meat to clean up with a die grinder but the step at the bottom would have to be epoxied or welded to get it back to match the port. Are they all like this or did I just get a crummy one that slipped passed QC?

My FD JW manifold was like that. I think they're all like that. You just have to get in there and do some finishing work on the runners. Not a big deal.

Your other option was to buy an RB manifold. It has better runners. I didn't have that option because RB doesn't make an FD manifold, so I went with JW.

^This!

Jay-Tech (now Pro-Jay) used to make a manifold for the 6 port, but that was like 10 years ago!
