is this just too much to break on my car in 1 week?

So last week it was the TPS, again, and the u-joint. Then i got it back and less than 24 hours later it was the air flow sensor and a crack in the radiator, then the mechanic had it and it was fixed and he had it running then the bearing in the power steering pump went out. What the hell. It has 190,000 miles on the body but this is ridiculous, i have spent over $1,000 on the car in a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I am just trying to figure out if it's time for her to go. I guess i just wanted to vent.

Wow! That IS ridiculous! Time to let her go? Geese, at this rate your car will be almost brand new condition before the month is over!! :P

You won't want a vert, you want a TII, and you know it
(unless your car is already a TII, but I assume it's an NA)

I have 196K miles and I don't think I had that many problems since it was new. Could the problem be your mechanic? Is he sabotaging your car?

i was wondering the same thing, about the mechanic. It just seems wierd, but how the hell will i know if he sabotaging it? He's the same mechanic i have always had, he changed the engine in it when it was owned by the guy we bought if off. He has been mentioned on this website by other people here in charleston as being a great rotory mechanic. So I don't know what to think. I don't want to take my car anywhere else because the mechanic i had for my last rx7 didn't know **** and kept the car for three months because it was FLOODED. (I was a complete dumbass at that time and there was no forum for me to turn to). sooo... i guess the whole rip out the power steering may work. It'll be a good work out for me, i'll end up with HUGE popeye arms. .

Do you still have contact with the original owner? Can you ask him/her what thier experiences with the car and the mechanic were?

Do you have a male friend who knows cars and can go see the mechanic?

I know that you should not have to resort to that, but I have found (when dealing with problems with female friends cars) that here in South Carolina, some mechanics will tell women anything - no matter how outragous. Then when I get involved and just show up to ask questions the mechanics attitude will change and they will suddenly feel compelled to fix the "mistakes" they have made.

Hey that sounds iffy to me to i would check with another mechanic, take it to somone else and see what they say about the same problem you know second opinion also let them know that you think this guy might be ripping you off, usually if another shop know's that they will be more inclined to be honest so they look like the better shop.

nah my husband talks to him just as much as i do. I do still have contact with the other owner of the car and he's the one who referred us to him. He was our neighbor, the original owner, and he and my husband would fix their cars together all the time, so he wouldn't steer us wrong because he knew that my husband knew his **** and he knew his **** when it comes to cars. So.... i don't know. it's time to bring out the hammer to the car!!!!. Anyway, i guess i trust the mechanic because he's been good to me all along. It's just my bad luck i guess. I'll investigate where i can get a second opinion. Me best friend works for his fathers import auto repair shop, but i don't think they know anything about rotor's. I'll call and ask him though, actually i have asked him, but i'll ask him to ask one of his coworkers. Thanks.
