TSB about Strut tops Creaking

I'm trying to follow up on something posted in another thread about the strut tops creaking. I was really wondering if this might be cause by the steering rack.

I disconnected my power steering and it started creaking when making left or right turns. Has anyone actually solved this problem? From the other thread it certainly seemed like alot of people had the same issue.... Anyone?

It happens on my car when it's cold but I don't really care. When I had my struts out, I cleaned and re-packed the strut-tops and they were really gunky.
The fix is to get some new mounts with new bearings.

I had two different racks in my '87 TII. I still had the creaking (mostly when cold) even with new rack, struts, bushing, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc. . Now my '89 with PS and only 45 K miles is creaking on both sides when turning the wheels (it's very cold here now). I'm pretty sure it's the strut top mounts as described in the TSB. I'll be changing those with the updated part in the summer.

Just grease them up, the creaking will go away.

The strut tops, where the strut physically meets the top. The creaking is caused by the damper twisting around in it... more specifically because the car is 11+ years old and it probably hasn't had any grease added to it in that long.
