I'm gonna give it a year or so. If you look into the pipes from the engine flange side you can see that the exhaust will really pount against one of the first welds. That's where I think it will break/crack. I feel like it will do pretty well though, maybe more than a year. I really was surprised/impressed at how nice it looked when I got it. Oh and dyno time around here is like 60 bucks for 2 runs. But the 2 runs are usually wicked off. When I got my old streetported n/a dyno'd there it went from 110rwhp, to 126, 132, and then finally got the last one which was 155. I think it still should have been higher. .wicked inconsistant. Hopefully they'll figure their **** out by the time I take the T2 in.

to my surprise, it held up pretty good.
it was on my old hybrid setup and have seen 1.2-1.3bar and have had the turbo and downpipe glow...
it is still fine - took it off for a full hks turbo kit, the welds still looked good... it looks "dull" but no cracks and still in 1 piece

the location is pretty good too - fits very well... although the bolt holes are a little bigger than id like....

the piping is also a bit on the "soft" side... i was putting on a nut and kinda dented one fo the pipe a tiny bit... well, dinged it...

oh, the stock s4 manifold (even without twinscroll) seem to spool the turbo better too

if you want a "spool upgrade", i suggest the s5 manifold and hotside!

well i guess i will do you all another favor and do it as a sole upgrade to let you know of my feelings on spool up and overall gains. might be a few months and i won't be dynoing it just to show numbers but i will do it to see what the single gains are from it.

It's a good design for piston motor such as a wrx, but for such a strong exhaust pulse in the rotary I believe it's more of a hinderance than an aid. Once the engine is breathing better than stock, I really think that Twin Scroll becomes a bottle neck. If i'm not mistaken the S5 don't have it, but they got a better manifold all together. I have some friends with the SSAC and they're happy, granted they're driving Nissans, but so far no issues. They got theirs ceramic coated for what it's worth.

i have a S4 turbo with ported runners and twin scroll removed, it has much better top end but the low end spools a bit slower without the twin scroll, sometimes i wish i had it back.

Update, put about 800 miles or so on the mani and no problems yet. .these havn't been easy miles either. . . i'm running 10-12psi. I've had the whole hotside of the turbo, manifold and top of the down pipe glowing pretty damn briight multiple times. That just when I take the time to actually get out and look, i'm sure that after any spirited bust it will be glowing. I see the 10psi by 3k or so rpm with a wastegate that's ported to the size of about a silver doller and still has the stock flapper so it does NOT seal, yes I know that's not ideal but the turbo is on it's way out anyhow so I didn't want to spend the time to make it perfect just wanted to make my car safe to drive. . haha Well that's bout it, i'll post more results as I get them, hopfully posative ones

that looks like it was for a t3 or t4 style turbo not a stock replacment manifold. . not to say that one is stronger than another, just an observation. We'll see what happens with mine though. I'll keep posted. Thanks for posting that thread!

Yeah Karack put mine on. Looked nice, but was a pita getting the bolts on...I had him do that :P Mines held up since I put it on..I just put it on since I didn't feel like finding a stock manifold with less cracks that mine..just opted for a new unit- SSAC mani. Works fine I guess...Can't really say anything on gains since I did a LOT of mods when I installed it.

Update! Mani is cracked. . .****. . lol it cracked along one of the welds.. I'll take pictures when I pull the turbo off. I was just pulling the tranny and saw the crack. It did get a crazy exhaust leak before I dropped the tranny but I thought it was just a couple loose bolts or something. . Oh well. Back to a modifyed stock mani. . I might play around with this one, Re-weld it and do some other stuff. . we'll see though. Oh And I think I put about 3-4,000 miles on it.

i picked up Slpins manifold and am running it now. i've put about 500 miles on the motor.

it wasn't the only upgrade so it is hard to judge but i will just give my impressions.

i rebuilt the engine 500 miles ago, installed a Saab 9000 front mount with 2.5" piping and a 11lb light steel ACT flywheel and did a tiny clean up job on my ports. those few mods with the same tuning netted what i would guess to be 30-35RWHP in gains(on the butt dyno, i didn't have traction issues before now i can't keep traction once the turbo spools in first and barely in second) at only 7PSI boost. to say whether the manifold helped any at all i cannot say since it wasnt the only mod done at this time. my goal is 325RWHP on a stage 2 hybrid, large street port and mid-mount intercooler.

the only downside is the manifold makes a "ting" sound with every exhaust pulse so it can sound like a metal rattling noise. it doesn't bother me but may bother some.

yea it always sounds like there's an exhaust leak. . lol I hope you have better luck than I did. I took the turbo/manifold off this evening and the flange is warped like crazy as well . . **** poor manifold. . like I said I hope you have better luck. haha It is a nice looking unit though. Mine cracked next to the weld that merges the two pipes into the one chamber/flange.
