just purchased a miata??? Am I crueL???

Well, after dumping 10k into my car with a ported motor, bigger turbo , standalone, and all the goodies with it...Im happy and sad to say, it is now my summer car/race car only. My rx-7 will never see the light of daily driving every again. I feel it was just getting to far off from daily driving....

So, wanting to stay in the mazda family. I found a nice red miata (mx-5) hardtop conv. dohc 16 4 cyl. Overall, its a fun commuter car that is getting me close to 40mph on the highway.... and VERY VERY fun to drive...kinda like a go cart...

I dunno, I have mixed feelings, I think it was a good move....I just couldn't stand having my car as the only driver especially with all the maintenance.....

Large StreetPort
Microtech Standalone
Garrett t04 h3
1100cc secodaries..
and all the other $$$$$ **** that goes with it....
est hp....350rwhp (getting dynod next week)..
est 1/4. Low 12's....

Those things scare me ... they are just TOO small. Are you a big guy? how's the fit? I have always wondered if I would even be semi comfy in one of those. I'm 6'4" I drive everything I own fast .. i would just be afraid one of those little things would slip right under the rear end of a semi truck and decapitate ya.

Actualy the lightest base 1.6 models are around 2160lbs
The 1.8ltr are around 22-2300 lbs. My friend has a 97 with JR intake , exaust and gets 10.4 in the 1/8 mile beating or equaling eclipse RS and some hondas. hehe

Yeah anyways it handles extremely well to and modded out can push over 1g with just tires and suspension so ive heard in some magazine. They are very quick feeling in the city because of thier short gearing and throtle response. Basicaly its fun to drive because its a roadster
Ive been trying to buy one for awile but im trying to save for colledge at the moment. Im looking forowerd to it afterwords though and the greddy turbo is only 1400 bucks for the whole bolt on kit. Do easy high 13s with around 10-11 lbs. The engine is really strong (overengineared) and will handle 8psi safely on its stock fuel system with no ECU tuning.

My friend that drives one is 6 foot and has never complained about space. He cant recline the seat though so he has to sit streight up. Im 5/6 and fit easy. I would invest in a roll bar and 5point harness because im paronoid. Sorry for the nonsense but im sure I educated a few poeple who may be interested.

I just drove a `02 miata with the factory speed goodies and have to say I was severely unimpressed with the acceleration. Drop a ported rotary in there and you'd have a fun car. I wanted to do a burnout leaving the dealers lot just to prove to them what power was. The salesman didn't think an n/a 7 would compete with that miata. I'd smoke the crap out of it for less than the down payment.

i was told by someone that the reason that the miata's are so heavy is becouse they had to add extra weight to the rear to even the weight distribution... anybody know if this is true?

Miatas arent made for wuss.. er.. i mean drag racing. Their strength is on the road course where all cars should be raced

a miata with a 13b is a dream of mine. imagine doing haedcore weight reduction with all the usual goodies associated with a tII motor. sure it will be a money pit, but it would sure be fun as hell.

I agree Miata's are the $hit, and an awesome daily drivers car (way beyond an enjoyable drive). I would barely upgrade the car if at all just so I didn't destroy the balance of the awesome suspension...okay I'm just gonna stop posting because I could go on forever about how perfect the Miata is (can you tell what my favorite 'vert is???).
