Don't take it the wrong way, I think your car makes awesome power for an n/a (the second most I have seen), but I am realistic.Jay
I ran into a couple of the 98' Vtec Prelude. I raced one when my car was bone stock and he only beat me cuz i had only driven a stick for 2 months and was shifting at 6k
. Then i raced one later on, and i had Intake and no mufflers, and he had Intake, full exhaust and some other ****, and he only pulled a 1 foot on me to 60. So i can beleve mazdaspeed and everyone else who said they beat one.. And i have been dying to find one now and show them whats up! yea ive done a lot more since that race last year...
mazdaspeed how much does ur car way? mine w/o me weighs 2550.

Man, my 88 SE can beat a newer prelude, even if it has E/I/H cams, ignition, etc etc. All I've got is exhaust, intake, and ignition. Oh yeah...and a '91 GTX Jspec motor its all bolted up to...but thats besides the point
All joking aside, the newer preludes are quick, but an NA 7 should be able to beat them if they are modded right. The biggest thing I learned w/ NA to be a big help in performance is exhaust flow and fuel regulation...if you fine tune those two components, your good to go

lol, ya but against someone who has been driving a stick for a while? c'mon we all know it comes down to the driver.... So rotorman88 u got that beast running yet? damn im so jealous...

Yeah, I know the TII S4 weight more, but the hp difference is way too much. I don't think you can take a S4 w/ full exhaust and intake, but maybe hang with it is more realistic. Well, maybe you could win because you did not say an FCD. An S4 w/ full exhasut will hit fuel cut and should be slow as hell...

Im expecting 175 RWHP from my car with the new exhaust when I dyno again. That in a 2600 lb car WILL be faster than the above TII if the drivers are the same.
W/ full exhaust and intake in S4 TII it is damn near impossible to keep the boost down in my experience! I ported my wastegate huge-7psi unless it recieved more load- say over 150mph in 5th-then it creeps slowly to 12psi. You don't hear many NA guys talk about what their car does over 150mph JK

1st 41.68 mph
2nd 72.36 mph
3rd 106.05 mph
4th 144.86 mph
5th 203.75 mph
N/A gearing SUCKS!!!!!!!! Oh well, Im getting new rear gears very soon, along the lines of 4.778-4.875
N/A not Turbo
Ok guys...I'm talking about N/A. I have had a Turbo II with just intake, DP, exhaust, F-CON and it ran head to head with GS-T at stock boost. That GS-T ran 13.7 on track with drag radials. Of course he had them on when he raced me and I had my 335 BF Goodrich Comp T/A.
So I know what T2s are capable of. Now let's go back to N/A. They're just too damn heavy. My stock GTU weighed in at 3150 on a dyno. I need some major weight reduction and I'll challenge him again..

The 98 prelude in the original post features the honda H22A four cylinder VTEC pushing 222HP at the flywheel exactly, figure in 25-30 percent power loss through transfer to the wheels, a stock N/A(sad to say it) will get spanked.
Wrong...98 Honda Prelude with H22A has a power rating of 195HP to the at the crank and about 165 to the wheels. And here's a dyno of 99 Stock prelude to prove you wrong.

Mine running 7 psi lost to a 12.70 Talon Tsi by a few carlengths. My wastegate is ported as big as it will go, and with no boost controller it will still creep to 11-12 in 4th and 5th on a cool day.
The only Prelude I ever beat in my NA was an Si, which have 160 hp, not 195

something TIIs have, but N/As dont...
something jimlab will have in abundance when (if!) he finishes his car...
TORQUE. My bone-stock 89 TII (~2900 lbs) put down 175/168 avg a few weeks ago. You may put down equivalent hp numbers, but I dunno about those torque digits. Keep in mind, too, that I was making (IIRC, the charts are at home) >150 lb-ft at ~2500 RPM, and it kept up all the way across the chart...
In any case, I'm sure your car is a screamer
and I've heard of very-well modded N/As keeping up with stock-to-lightly modded TIIs before. But don't let your head get too big
Brandon
I agree about the torque thing, but I will have either 4.778 or 4.875 ring and pinion soon. That will do a lot for making my powerband more usable, and would put my shift points at about the same speed as a TII, even though the rpm is over 1500 rpm higher at the shift point.

4.778 or 4.875!!! Holy ring gears, Batman! That's some serious reduction! What's your (calculated) top speed with that setup?
Good luck,

That is so funny when my step brothers LIGHTLY modded '90 or '91 CRX DX can hang with and beat TIIs... and you think a GS-R can't. They are EVERYTHING they are said to be. If you even up the power adders and add a turbo to the GS-R and you have a very fast car. Even in the Integra it will haul.

I'm not saying hondas are all below average, but you're making them out to be more than they are.

At about 115 he was half a car length in front of me when we ran into traffic and stopped. Later I found out he had about $20,000 into the car , but no lsd thats why i took him off the line. Preludes with fully built Mugen Engines are no joke. But I am reminded of a quote off of suprastore.com by "fast" hondas. "Sure you can make a fiero fast, but at the end of the day you still have to drive home in a fiero and not a supra!" And that is exactly how I feel about Preludes
