I guess that is what happens when you run for 2.5 weeks w/o your o2 sensor hooked up. The wire broke off and Ive been so buy, I hadnt had time to solder it back down till tonight. Hopefully the next tank will last me more than 175mi.

The O2 sensor doesn't effect mileage as much as everyone on this board thinks, at least for me anyways. I mean, I wouldn't expect you to jump up from 11 to say 17 just from soldering the wire. My O2 sensor has been melted/not connected for a couple tanks now, and I'm still getting 17-17.5 mpg.

Check TPS, mine went up very nicely when I readjusted my TPS. Other than that a basic tuneup couldn't hurt. I don't doubt that your O2 is helping a little, but I wouldn't pin it as the main factor and just from MY experience, only me I have no idea what others experience in this, the O2 didn't change things a whole lot.

And my 17-17.5 mpg was all city by the way, no highway... I think that's fairly good for a 2nd gen personally, and like I said my O2 isnt even connected.

I do know that my TPS is going bad as Ive thrown codes for both narrow and full range. How do I adjust it?

Also, if you have an open air (k&n type) air filter on your car, make sure the AFM is postioned properly. A lot of folks turn them 90 degrees to mount them to the passenger strut tower. Doing this will make your car run rich, and of course that means more fuel. At these prices, we are all trying to wring as much out of a gallon as we can!

Do a search for adjusting it, it's been talked about a lot.

Would tuning the car with the SAFC help too? Ive been meaning to get it done, I bought the car slightly modded but the previous owner never had it tuned.

Crikey! And here I thought my ~20-24mpg was bad (depending on how much highway I have in there).

Short trips (cold engine) make for some pretty bad fuel economy, as does getting into it hard. I don't remember what exactly the AF ratios go to, but they're REALLY rich.

I'm currently in a quest for repeatable 30mpg trips. More information as results warrant (and my SAFC gets here... *annoyed*)
