Just Finished s5 Jspec swap into s5 wont start!

It was an 89 GX Automatic and I swapped in an s5 t2 jspec and tranny, sticking with the na drivetrain, also I have a custom driveshaft.

It's been really close to starting several times but still nothing, I have spark, timings right, I have fuel, I dont know what else to consider, compressions good. Im really all out of ideas here, tomorrow Ill be checking the afm, I hear sometimes that the only way to get a jspec running is to tow it behind a truck or bumpstart it, that would work if I had a tranny mount that would bolt up(it used to be auto working on the mount right now too)

also my check engine light never comes on too, even when I swapped bulbs and warning light clusters, i have a spare cpu should I throw that in?

On the first start up, you sometimes have to treat it like a flooded engine.

Squirt a little oil in the leading plug holes, install the plugs, crank it with a jump to get good RPM's with the throttle floored for a few seconds, then lift the throttle some & see if it catches.

Congrats on the swap. Boost is addictive. Enjoy..

Are you positive you have fuel? Are your injectors getting a ground signal? If you switched from an auto to a manual are you positive that an automatic "safety" switch isn't engaged? On my sr20 swap in the auto 240 I had to make sure to bypass that switch. I am not sure where or if this would come into play on an auto 7 just pointing out a possibility. My "jdm" engine swap started right up after I got power to the injectors.

well I bypassed that, so its all should be good it wouldnt crank if that wasnt bypassed, I should check the injectors, but I had a good mist coming out of the plug holes when i was deflooding it the other day.

I think I have the same issue. Does the car start if you plug in your original NA ecu?

I'm suprised no one has asked this yet. Jspecs can be a good value, but not if the apex seals are toast.

Because theres no point. He already said compression is good...

E_Dub, try plugging in your NA ecu and see if it will start. If it starts and runs on the NA ecu without a problem then you have the same issue me and 91TurboVertS5 have.

Well it started but it only stayed running for about 10 seconds until I let my foot off the gas, hasnt started since but its still been close, unfortunatly I dont have the old ecu I sold it with the engine and the harness, the compression # are fine. I'll get it started again tonight. Im pretty sure DriftingB26RX7 was right, I cranked it and cranked it and thats when it finally started running.

also check for a vacuum leak, it can cause a no idle situation or maybe thats why when you let off the gas the engine dies, thats how my turbo II was when i got it running there were two vacuum leaks and it wouldn't idle, also it was very hard to start. good luck, btw who did you buy the jspec engine from and was everything cool. thanks, zach
