Question Just curious.....would this work??

ok....just wondering....prolly a dumb idea.....but i have a 1986 N/A Rx7. The other day i was playin with the air pump/smog pump and noticed that it could pump out a good amount of air......so.....my question is.....would it be possible to use it as a supercharger in a way?? possibly put a filter on the inlet side and connect the outlet side directly to the intak and somhow seal it off?? ok...go ahead and rip on me for this dumb idea...just wondered if i was the only one that thought about this............??

You should have searched first- you're gonna get flamed. Although your human senses tell you that the air pump produces prodigous amounts of air, it's a "drop in the bucket" compared to the airflow that the engine ingests...

Hey dude, they call them things superchargers when they grow up. Calculate the cubic feet per minute that one, the air pump, actually thruputs and you'll then know if any use could be made of it. Any one else don't laugh, if you could get a couple of pounds higher pressure to the front end of the AFM, you would definitely notice an increase in low end performance.
Have fun.

As covered countless times before, there is insufficent air volumn out of any automotive smog air pump to work as a supercharger
