Question 87 TII & 88 TII engine parts interchangeable???

I have a 88 TII 10AE. NewB trying to understand which used engine parts and accessories are interchangeable within the 87-88 TII range.

The most recent part in question is the water pump housing.

Relevant information appreciated!

Are you saying that it doesn't matter whether the engine is a NA or a TII, most of the engine parts, excluding fuel, are interchangeable?

everything should be the exact same. i'm pretty sure mazda wouldn't have put much thought on how to improve the engineering/cosmetic duties of the car from year to year, but rather from series to series.

all except for the earlier models having low imp. injectors and what not.

Understood. With a followup question.

To summarize, if I stay within the S4 TII arena (87-88), most all of the engine parts are interchangeable. From reading the archives, posts, and Rotary Resurrection's tech pages, I remember the only exceptions are the ECUs and the injectors (different numbers). Are there others I should be aware?

Thanks to the guys who responded. I appreciate the info and will continue to read and learn from the posts. Was able to buy a 87 TII water pump housing for my 88 TII AE because of your responses.
