Just can't seem to hit 15's ?

I race at HRP and the best i could do is 16.07@86.4

60ft-2.374

1/8-10.3@ 67

1/4-16.07@86.4

I had some other 16.0 flats but this is one of my better ones.

I'm thinkin about buyin some drag radials to cut my time.

You can throw in your comments now. Thanx

Sure it does, but you seem to be doing fine in that department.

Dont suppose you have any ballpark figure about your RWHP ?

Even your 1/8 seems a bit slow. Dont think it has anything to do with r/t. Did you slip/spin badly ? Maybe you took it easy on the transmission ? Did you sHifT mAd qWuicK yO ?

That's a pretty decent run considering it's HRP...
I don't know what kinda mods you're running, but a 16.0x is a nice run for an NA with (assuming) mild mods.

I dunno what the other owners are getting in terms of 60' times, but 2.3xx is nothing to be ashamed of.&nbsp I would think it would be possible to cut a 60' time of 2.2 with an NA on street tires - can some of the other more experience NA guys chime in on this?

R/T does not effect your 1/4 mile time what-so-ever. You could sit there and wait 2 seconds and then launch and you'll still run the same time if you waited .501 and launched.

Your 60FT Looks morbid btw

I have a cone intake, RB dp@presilencer, N1 dual exhaust. Would that be considered "mild".

Next time i'm gonna borrow someones drag radials or maybe get my own *shrug*

It was a shitbox with 180 sum odd thousand miles on it

Its amazing how good you can launch when you don't care about your clutch.

RX7Power, What mods do you have? When was the last time yo did a check up? Does your VDI and 5th and 6th ports work properly? All these things need to be taken into consideration. Its all good bud 16.07 is not bad for a NA + I bet with just a couple of hours in tuning and checking you can get that time down. Plus practice is practice. Keep it up you and remember if you are not grinding 2nd gear you are not shifting fast enough haha .

Sorry Tony, but no, reaction time has nothing to do with ETs. It has everything to do with winning however The ET doesn't start until you break the stage beam, and ends whne you cross the finish line.

The 60' can use some work, I'd focus on your launch, and look at your shiftpoints.. Are you shifting too high and getting out of your power band? Too low and same thing?

If your car is completely stock... that's OK..
You would probably have a half-clogged cat, and need a good internal engine clean (ATF, carb cleaner whatever)

But for an intake and cat replcement pipe (N/A's don't have downpipes), and a catback, that's not so good.

The 16.08 is not great., the true tale is the MPH. 86 mph is a little slow. Not slow for the 16.08, but slow for an rx7 period. That shows the car's power... You probably are loosing something somewhere.

Check your compression, and make sure your air pump is working... it may not be, preventing your aux ports form opening, and your VDI from switching over.
A few questions-
With your mods you should feel the car surge substantially when you get into high RPMS... should be MUCH stronger up there than at lower (3-4K) rpms.
Is it?
Also, how is your launch? Describe in detail... do you launch high, do the tires spin though 1st, does it catch then bog, etc....

BAMBAM

My VDI seems to be working fine. I get that surge at about 5500rpms. I'll prolly go and get a compression check for the hell of it when I have time. I changed everything that I could reach like the O2 sensor, fuel filer, plugs and wires, tranny and rear diff oil to redline oils, radiator coolant I even regrounded and added grounds to the car.

As for my launch I rev it to about 5 and pop the clutch, then i just try to shift as fast as I can. Sometimes I grind 2nd (damn I hate that). The tires spin a little not too sure though cuz everything happens so fast.

BTW how do you like the streetport? That's exactly what i'm gonna get when my motor kerplunks.

No header?&nbsp Yeah, then it's just about right for HRP.&nbsp The header will get you your 15 pretty easily.

I don't know how the launch felt, but it could be improved by around a tenth, and that should barely cut you into the 15's.&nbsp How is your shifting?&nbsp You should be shifting pretty fast, as you're losing an easy 0.1 - 0.2 each time you shift.&nbsp You're ending up at the top of 3rd gear, right?&nbsp I hope you're not shifting into 4th???

advance your timing a bit
I droped from 16.0-15.8
By just advancing my timing to a 15.5 while at the tracks
waiting lanes
87 SE with a Mid Pipe
also get a gallon of 110 octane juice at the track

I know a way you can run in the 15's by just removing 4 bolts. I garantee you if you unbolt, and remove the passanger seat you will run in the 15's Lose the weight that seat is heavier than most think. If thats not your thing run with no spare or jack, or even run with a 1/8th tank of gas these things all together can net great results.

You are not going to drop your time that much from just 50lbs.

Rid it of more stuff yes it is better.

100lbs = 1/10 sec

you'd probably go faster if you had working aux ports
