just bought an rx7 with 90k and it has coolant problems
it runs good. after not being started for a few months it was flooded or something so i unplugged the fuel pump and then started for 5 seconds. it started with it unplugged. then died. i hooked the pump up and it started up. my questions are many.
it wants to keep on running after i turn it off. just a few seconds. what would cause that.
when i started it and let it idle it smoked for like 10 minutes or so. white smoke.
it has a cooling problem. it stays 3/4 up on the coolant gauge. goes no higher.
i put a stant thermostat in it just for now til i can get the o.e. one.
before i put the new thermostat in, the top hose was getting sucked in. now it doesnt. but the gauge shows it at 3/4 still. i bled the hose from the radiator hole too.
the over flow tank is full and it bubbles in side. nothing barely comes out. but it is full.
do you thing a coolant seal is blown.

Sounds to me like you do have some leaking of the coolant into the combustion area...however, this could just be residue from engine not being run in awhile....I would change oil...
Your gauge could be wrong...usually they run abour 1/4 to 1/3 MAX upon warming up...radiator could be clogged....you got a "buffet" of possible causes..
