Just bought a clutch, ACT 4 puck. What to expect?
4 puck unsprung, with a centerforce 9lb. aluminum flywheel and HD pressure plate.
This is my DD, and before the flame train comes rolling in I realize I'm in for knee pains and at least a week of stall outs. To my credit, and now for the question: In my previous T2 I had a 11lb. flywheel with a twin plate clutch and a HD pressure plate. How is this going to compare to that setup?

i hope this is another T2? if not i think it's a waste and you could of easily gone with a street/strip, version and not killed yourself... anyhow its going to grab and grab hard. If your not putting down crazy power, i guess just something your going to need to get use'd to if not get ready for rear diff mount to start giving problems..

the HD pressure plate won't make your pedal very stiff at all, I have an xtreme PP and can daily drive it fine.
the unsprung 4-puck clutch however is going to be a beast to live with. you're clutch is going to be an on/off switch.
I have a ACT performance disc on my T2 and haven't had any problems with it... what made you get the unsprung 4 puck?

I had one of those in my '86 NA. Engagement was like a lightswitch, like has been said - I stalled the car at every stoplight on the way home after picking it up from the shop. I had to feather the **** out of the clutch to get going in normal traffic, and I'm pretty sure that that was responsible for trashing the flywheel after only 100,000 kilometers.
I'm stilling driving NAs but I'm sticking with stock clutches now. The ACT's in a box. It was an interesting and entertaining experience but for a car that will never see racing, it was also unnecessary and ultimately not worth the extra pains of using it.

I have an act 4 puck sprung and an hd pressure plate while it is not exactly the same thing, it is pretty close. so I will give you some info on my setup.
I love the clutch/ pressure plate setup. the engagement is super crisp compared to stock and it feels great! I did stall it a few times when I first put it in though. It also took me a while to get used to taking off without A: stalling or B: spinning the tires
I did not resurface my flywheel when I installed the clutch/pp so I get mad chatter now, and I blew my front diff mount up downshifting on the highway.

Thanks for the input guys, to be honest I picked this up because it was available for cheap, lol. If I had it my way I would have gone for something a little less extreme, but this was in my budget. I'm used to the lightswitch effect from my old T2, but the lack of torque in my N/A is the worry I'm having. I'll just have to deal with it, lol. If things get too much of a pain I can always go back to the stocker.... thanks again!
