Just bought a 88SE .. Some questions

Hey guys, just picked up a 88 SE. Gonna be checking out a few things on the car tomorrow and wanted to know where the best place to jack the car up would be with a floor jack.

Also, my 6 port actuators are stuck and i'll be working on freeing them tomorrow. This car has a Bonez straight pipe w/built-in presilencer (no cat) and was curious if this pipe has a provision for the actuators.

Thanks!
Shawn

The actuators work off backpressure of the exhaust. When the exhaust is modified you lose some backpressure, so whether or not you have enough backpressure to open them is doubtful. There are several ways around this the easiest way is to wire the ports open. You will lose some low end power, but not much and you will gain power at higher rpms. Some guys have worked out different ways of operating the actuators. Do a search and you should find some info on that.

yea, i have searched and found lots of information. I was curious about the results with the bonez pipe in particular. If i have to i will definitely try wiring them open and see how it is.

Your jack goes under the rear diff and center post behind the engine. Floor jacks go on the rails under the car (about 8" back from the front and 4" in the rear).

Just be sure to put the jack stands on the "fat" part of the rail so it wont bend. Also a jack rated for 5" to 20"+ would be good.
