Jus sat in my first TII!!

I've been looking for a TII for some time and I found one about 15 minutes away for a very reasonable price of 1500. Its grey with a burgandy interior( I ain't feelin the burgandy but the interior is very clean) the paint looked in good condition too, no rust. I sat in the car, it fit me pretty good I was kind of worried I would be too tall but it was nice. He just installed a new clutch and used tranny from a Junk Yard. Only thing is the engine lost compression on the rear rotor, and I was wondering, what is the absolute minimum price for a rebuild, I only have 1500 for the car so I would have to probably borrow money for the rebuild. The body has 98K miles on it, excellent cosmetically its just the engine, thanks, I'm pretty happy with this car and hoping to get it

Budget $2200 - you've never worked on an RX-7 before and wouldn't be able to tackle a rebuild or engine install yourself (sorry, but it's true). Once you get the money, ask us again for reputable installers in your area.

Did the guy tell you about the compression or did you have it tested? If they told you about it you may want to get it inspected by a good mechanic. Anyone here know a good rotr mechinc near Nuclear13B?

what year is it? I wouldn't pay nearly that much for a 87-88 with a blown engine...

more for an 89-91

my friends dad said that 1100 was more reasonable, do you think I shoudl talk him down ? I was pretty excited at the good price, but I guess I was wrong ? Maybe because he just got a new clutch installed ? Thanks

Yeah I would budget $2000 minimum for a rebuild and installation if I wasn't doing it myself and there was someone local, and even then that doesn't include fixing everything else the guy did to blow the engine in the first place.

Well $1500 is a fairly good price as long as everything looks good and theres no other problems...especially if you don't find TIIs very often where you are. There is a guy on here, Kevin Landers that does rebuilds for like $1000 and up. His name on here is like hypntyz7 or something like that. I'll find him for ya...

That's a pretty good deal.

Here in canada a blown engine, red, black interior, 87 turbo sold for 2000 cdn (1250 usd).

Considering the one your seeing has a new clutch, it's pretty averagly priced. Get it inspected really cleaning, it will be fine. The body doesn't have too much miles on it. Pull the guys leg a little more to get the price lower

Try to say that the transmission came from a JUNKyard, you'll get something out of that maybe.

i got the price down to 1200, but the thing the guy said that the transmission did come from the junkyard ? Is that anything significant ?

I also found this motor rebuilt 26k miles ago, has great compression, no harness or injectors with turbo, intercooler, flywheel, piping, and BOV and he wants 1500 for all of it, hows that sound ? Thanks
