Jumpy Idling, Car Jerking at low speed

I have two problems right with my '87 non-turbo.

Sometimes the car will startup to 3,000rpm and slowly go down to 750 - as it should. Other times, it will startup at about 1500rpm and then rev between 1500 and 2000 without ever dropping to 750. It just continously jumps betweehn 1500 and 2000.

Second, at low speeds (5-10mph) the car sometimes will jerk pretty violently. Yes, I am in the correct gear for the speed. Any ideas? Thanks for the help!

yeah mine gets jumpy too at slow speeds....You kinda have to put the clutch in and re engage it when you want to accelerate again....Or kinda half ride the clutch for a bit.

My car did the same things ya'll are talking about. I never fixed the jumyness. But the jumpy idle and such is usually a vacuum leak.

Set the TPS before you do anything else.

My car is jumpy also. I know how to control it though. I guess its one of the many "features" that come with RX7s along with the bad mileage, and terribly fragile electronics.
