jumping idle

When my car is warm it idles at 1700 rpm or it will idle at 700-1100rpm jumping on the tach. When my car idled high I was to try the idle screw to reduce it, but now it bounces. I did not touch the idle srew and set it to low. Please help Eric

Start by making sure your TPS is set correctly, then set your idle according to the FSM.

TPS=Throttle Position Sensor, one of the main determinants of engine idle. Has to be adjusted to within spec before you will get a decent idle.

FSM=Factory Service Manual; in the "Fuel" section of the FSM you can read up on how to set and adjust the TPS, how to set idle speed and lots of other stuff you're gonna have to do.

FSM's can be found on line. Look in the FAQ section of this forum....

it flutters between 1700-1000 rpms, bounces. I noticed when I was adjusting the idle screw I could olny get it to idle between 2000 rpms and this bouncing, fluttering thing. It would never idle normal no matter how adjust it. Can anyone please help.

check your TPS and look for any vacuum hoses that are split or have come off.

does it cause any problems? if not i'd like to "break" mine so it will do that. (purely for show, no performance thoughts in mind)
