jumper cables on backwards

Lightbulb jumper cables on backwards

My nephew hooked the jumper cables up wrong and the alarm system burned up but that is ok, but it won't start. Any ideas???????????/

is the nephew still alive (LOL)...first off look around in the engine bay for any obvious heat damage to the engine harness wiring, especially near the battery...you might have fried the alternator's circuitry too...check all fuses, some might have blown and saved your ***...

Check your under hood fuse box. You probably blew a fuse.

I did this to my car and the only thing that happened was my “body” fuse blew.

Also, my temp gauge didn’t work, but I think that was broken before the incident.

Check the main fuse under the hood on driver's side.

check out everything powered by the battery circuit (doesn't take the key being on)
1)alternator
2)ECU
3)headlight cluster switch (got some diodes in there)
4)CPU
5)warning panel/ clock unit
6)theft-deterrent control unit
7)radio/ cd player

I accidently did that once.
Fried the alternator and majorly baked the wires around it.


Turns out the damn thing was just trying to spin...
