Jspec turbo in N/A fc Series 4

Alright, I put a J-spec (well I think it's a J-spec because it has no egr valve) in a 88' FC. Compleatly single handed. I used the majority of the of the N/A components. I did most of my homework before putting this project together. I'm using the 13 ohm injectors from the N/A engine. There's no smog pump The AAC valve is strange because it's blocked of where normally it would flow out to the slpit air. I'll get in to the larger details once I get back to my car (currently serving in Iraq, I'll be home in January). My questions range all over so thanks for being patient. Before I left is when I did the swap so time was an issue. Once I was done with all of the of the convertion, I was having a hell of a time with the TII ECU. But when I put the N/A ECU it ran fine aside from the twin scroll acting up. I think my TII ECU is just bad. I did all the variations for the TII ECU. I put on the resistors and the 3 or 4 ohm injectors (those might not be the accurate impediance, but I know there lower than N/A's). Still the TII wouldn't work. So I'm sticking with the N/A ECU until I get to do some more tinkering. So the real questions. I want to know if it's possible to smog (California ) a 87' J-spec in a 88' N/A. I'm very doubt full. And if that's the case what kind of clean mod's could I do to my engine. I want to have some control over the map system. I really don't want to go "piggy back". I think I'm moving to Vegas Thanks for being patient...

It would never pass a visual test.
Vegas proper has emissions testing too.

You can't be serious... Turbo engine with N/A ECU and injectors?!?!?!

You must not value your hard work too much, because you're gonna toast that engine within a month...

Well I don't race what's not ready, I have a bit more sense than that (I hope). I'm not running more than 6 psi and I'm sure with the way it's feeds on fuel that it's not running to lean. I also managed to install the knock control unit. I also only run with 91 octane. Well for the short time I was running it. I have to say that it ran well. The only objection is with the slight lag within the 1500-2500 du to the twin scroll being bypassed. So much for Vegas too I guess. Bloody emissions I know that these engines can pull high efficiency from out there ports. Freakin' laws. How is it that a 74 Mustang can leak fuel out of the tail pipe and still be legal. Well I guess I'm going to get a U.S TII and Try to get it legal some how. I've heard that if you put a newer mode engine such as a 89' TII in a older model FC, that it's possible for it to be legal??? Anyone with answers fill me in please. Anyone want a J-spec engine??? No No just kidding, I want to use it still, I just wanted to see if there was a quick way for me to get it street legal, silly me. But does anyone know of any good fuel managment systems that allow precision adjustments.

if you're running a mostly stock engine (which it sounds like you are), just make sure all emmisions (air pump, cats, all those valves and hoses) are all hooked up and it should have no problem passing.

I have considered that, I could do it. But by only problem is that the engine will not accept the EGR valve. There's no port for it at all. It's just casted that way. I don't know if Vegas inspections are like, but I think Cali's inspectors would send me on my mery way.

These engines can handel much more that we know, as long as there's no detonation. I know that the S5 can handle a bit more due to the S4 having been know to crack one of the cornerers of somewhere ( I need to find out where for sure ) having out puts of above 375 hp.

I wanted to temporarily use my J-spec engine as a daily drive, leagaly that is ( yea right ) and eventualy to do a rebuild myself and some custom mods. Like everyone else I want to push out as much power out of this engine as my wallet can afford. I just wish I could do it and still have it street leagal in my 88' (sleeper) N/A...

I also have a question about the differentials in the 2nd gen series. Are they all limited-slip or on just certain models. I'm going to go ahead and post u pa new thread, I've been looking around and haven't hear much about this. I realized that when I did the swap that the gear ratios were diffrent. Also the speedometer seemed off. Something I don't much about so se you in the new thread. I'll still continue this one.
