car dont swap just got it

so i just got my first rx a 90 non turbo. it is supposidly street ported and has a Jspec motor. the car wont start, the kid i got it from says it started once and a while but not all the time. i think there is a problem with the mass air sensor. the cars getting fuel and spark so i think the problems electrical. there are also a lot of disconected wires in the engine bay.

Can anyone help me?

For starters, have you checked out the FAQ threads stickied to the top of this forum?

I have a mirror copy ot the Factory Service Manuals on-line.
The link in my sig points to an FTP directory.
You may download & print whatever you want.

Maybe do a compression test to make sure you're not wipping a dead horse.
Then move on to the "unflooding" procedure.

It's pretty hard to fix a broken car online. The fixer won't know if the timing is right, the history of the engine, the tainted varnish ridden gas in the tank, the plug off the afm, the story of how the previous owner unscrewed the afm plug instead of just pulling the plug off, the time the previous owner stuck a screwdriver in the cas while it was turning, how the engine was rebuilt using rtv instead of the orings. The time the previous owner shorted out the reference voltage signal and fried the ECU.

Those sorts of things really make it hard to fix online. So....are the plug wires on right? Is the elec plug on the afm? Have you taken the lower plugs out and had someone spin the engine while you put your finger on one hole and then the other to see if the pressure seems to be the same?

You got ripped off to some degree seeing as how its a true statement that there were no JSPEC engines that were non-turbo, as was mentioned above (RamCon).

Because a Non turbo motor and a Jspec are two different things... The Jspec motors are only Turbo.

To fix the problem you need to know at least what motor is in the car. If you can't figure out the motor how is anyone supposed to help you?

So with as little info as you have provided, I too would say you have a flooded motor. Read the FAQ for FC found at the top of this section for how to unflood it.
