the jeremy is electrically challenged thread

a little background. 91 gxl torn down to become an its racecar. it's been apart for about 1.5 yrs. i'm trying to hook everything back up and have been running into some issues. mostly stupid mistakes.

onto the recent problem. i hooked up the starter per what appeared to be correct, but i'm not getting anything out of the starter when i try to start the car. i'm planning on picking up a new starter on lunch. anywho, take a look at this photo and tell me where the cable i have circled goes. originally i had this to engine block ground (on the long starter bolt through the transmission).

there are many questions to come. nevermind my shitty digital camera. it's slowly dying.......

I have always grounded that wire though one of the mounting bolts for the starter. But i guess grounding it to the block is the same.

Are you getting 12V to the starter?
Does it click when you try to start it?

Look for a black single spade connector about 6 inches under your engine bay fusebox. Is it plugged in?
