jdm wiring harness

hey im doing a jdm engine swap into my 87 turbo chassis. the engine bay is compleely emtpy with no wiring at all. im getting a jdm swap most likely from jspec auto. i need to know if i can use a jdm s4 wiring harness and ecu and if not why not.. im not concerned about emiisions. thanks

yes.

What makes you think that you couldn't use the harness and computer that came with the engine?

and if your engine bay has NO wiring in it (like you said) - you're going to need more to do somethign about the missing body wiring harness......

thanks for clearing that up. i was confused becusae everything i read every one as saying to use a usdm harness.

I'm not positive about this, but when i got my jdm s4 tII engine, it looked as though the wiring harness came off of the right side(when facing the front of the engine), which, i'm guessing is to mean that the right hand drive vehicles mount their ecu on the passenger side just like we do here. The reason people are telling you to use a usdm harness is so that your wiring harness will be set up the right way- for a left hand drive vehicle. I didnt take the time to see if they were all that different as far as the lengths between plugs in the wires, but it seems to me that it would be a pain in the *** to get that harness to come out the other way.

Probably not going to work, without alot of work. Not to mention its probably going to be cut if youre buying the engine from an importer.

Because the harness is for a RHD car!

Use the LHD harness. It fits properly (for obvious reasons).
