jdm vs usdm turbo II help
Hi guys,
Coming to the forums to see if i can get some help. Currently swapping a rebuilt S5 motor into my project turbo 2. It currently has a jdm block in it, but im dropping a usdm rebuild. The problem I have is that there seems to be a coolant line missing. I believe i have USDM intake manifolds, but the lines were modded to work with jdm block. Anyone know how to reroute the hoses, or do i have to replace a hard line?

you are going to have to post pics or something, there is a lot of information missing in your post. You have to remember that there are significant differences among S4 USDM, S4 JDM, S5 USDM, and S5 JDM manifolds. These are mostly due to changes in emissions equipment and differences due to LHD vs RHD.

I'll jump the gun and just say that coolant hose routing is the same on US and Japanese engines. If there's a missing hose on one engine, someone removed something. The coolant lines running through the BAC or to/from the thermowax are commonly bypassed or rerouted.

Here are pics,
The port is an open two bolt flange. It routes to the engine block. Jdm port was not open, us block is. The port is directly above the exhaust port on the rear housing. pics for reference

Mystery solved, after about an hour of no help at the dealer...the internet comes through again.
coolant feed for turbo. I guess the jdm turbo line runs towards the front of the engine block. The usdm runs to the rear.
Maybe i'll just slap on the bnr stage 2 since it has all the correct lines on already.

Semi-related curiousity
S5 LIM only has port openings to match the rear port on S5 rotor housings, the front port on the S5 LIM is blocked. So while both S5 rotor housings will have coolant ports, only one of them is used. Does all that sound correct?
And I know, the engine in this thread have FD housings so both ports are blocked.

the coolant line off the turbo is either different or is flipped and is running the opposite direction to get coolant from a source off the front of the engine. if it still has the flange on the line then take the 24mm bolt off and flip the line the other direction and it should fit right onto that open coolant passage.
