JDM S5 T2 Throttle Cable Problem.

The throttle cable that came w/ my JDN was cut before I recieved it. I have bought a throttle cable from an S4 T2 and it seems to be short. I am bad w/ terminology, but the cable tip fits in the trottle, but where it fits in the metal bracket from there so it stays in place while you pull the cable...seems to be short. It places it where the throttle would be pulled way to much which would keep it reving way to high on idle...and I mean way to high. Is this a problem that is solved by an S5 throttle cable? od is the USDM Metal Bracket a little different then the JDM? Has anyone had this problem before/yet? LMK. -Blake

I tried to use a brand new S5 TII throttle cable with an S4 TII manifold and bracket and it was too long. My S5 cable fit a JDM TII engine perfectly. And you're right, the metal bracket on the back of the intake manifold is different.

It sounds like the S4 TII cable is shorter than an S5 cable.

I had the same problem with my JDM s5 engine, I ended up making my own bracket on the UIM to solve the problem. I am using a S5 T2 cable as well.

I know this is a way old thread but I wanted to say that I figured out how to make an s4 T2 throttle cable work with JDM s5 T2 manifolds. You have to widen the mounting holes on the bracket. It's a bit hard to explain, but if you widen the holes you should be able to move the bracket further forward so that there is enough slack in the throttle cable. The holes will have to be widened at an angle because the bracket sits at an angle. You are trying to slide the bracket down diagonally... look at the manifold and it will make sense.

This might work with other throttle cables too, but I haven't tried. Make sure there is at least a 1 mm of freeplay in the cable after adjusting it. If you are concerned about it sticking, read TPS voltage with the cable installed and with the cable unhooked. It should be the same.

I am going to be modifying the bracket so that the cruise control cables works as well.

I just got the cruise control in there finally. I had to grind down most of the part that goes through the bracket so that I could feed it all the way through and have enough slack.++

My setup is JDM s5 manifolds with an s4 TB and s4 front cover... it's kind of a crazy hybrid of s4, s5, and s6 parts

damn, widening the holes is a good idea. I wish I had thought of that...I sold my brand new S5 TII cable for a rusted *** S4...lol.
