Jdm motor

Jdm motor

lookin at getting a jdm motor for my 87 tII is there anything that i need to make sure to get wit the engine or will it swap right in.

if had a chance to get a motor for a 88-91 would it be better to do that?

I have done some research and i am having trouble find the info i need thanks.

J-spec engines have a tendency to either be bad when they arrive or go bad shortly after. If you are trying to avoid a rebuild, a j-spec is not the way to do it. An S5 will not drop right into your car, there are a lot of changes that need to be made. You can use your intake manifolds, injectors etc from the S4 but you will either need to run premix or change out the front cover for the oil metering pump.

your best bet is to stay within your series:

1986-1988 if you want the swap to be plug-and-play. RotaryRessurection charges 1000 bux to rebuild your motor (last time I checked) so I think it's better than J-spec.

if you want more power than get a turbo motor from the same series ( 87 and 88 only)


If you want MORE power than that then you can go with the series 5 motors (89-92) but you WILL have to do some medium electrical work and get other parts to make it work.

the reason i was lookin the jdm is because i m having a hard time trying to find a usdm motor.

i was lookin to do a rebuild, but after tearing down my motor there is much to rebuild. both rotor housings and one rotor is bad.

any suggestions
